I found this unusual quarter while looking through some change I had on hand. As I am new to coin errors, I have a few questions. I have no clue what error, if it is one, this might be. Additionally, I have been told by some that this might be a possible counterfeit quarter. Any insight into this quarter would be helpful.

Initial Observations:
-The quarter's ridge seems to be lifted.
-The quarter lacks reeding.
-The quarter is thicker than normal.
-There is an obvious split between copper and nickel, practically 50/50.

The coin is been altered since it's left the mint by repeated contact or beating on the edge, either deliberately or possibly in a dryer. Piece like this is normally called a Dryer Coin.

Unfortunate, but still a pretty cool quarter. Thanks for the replies and the welcomes!
