I stumbled on this auction today, and I wanted to get everyones opinion. LINK HERE

I think this seller has a 1931s cent in the picture but it's a bit blurry, he only listed it as "1931 USA One Cent Penny Wheat Coin" but the picture obviously has a mint mark. I figured worse case scenario it's a 1931d and it was worth the gamble for only $3.25.

What does everyone here think? S or D? I would have asked the seller but the auction was ending in an hour.

(btw, I'm new to the forum here, so if this post is in the wrong section I apologize. )

Hi,
It's a pretty blurry photo to resolve much detail, but I was curious.
If you ask me, I think it's a pretty good one to chance $3.25 on. Could be a damaged mm, but it doesn't strike me as a "D". Post new pics when it arrives.

Looks to be close to XF, not bad for $4.25 even if it's a D.

Yeah thats what I figured, I need a 1931 d and s for my collection anyway, so it's a win win situation.

Looks like an S at first glance and certainly the $4 is worth a shot even if it's a chipped die.

I love taking chances on cheap stuff like this and 50% of the time you'll come out a winner!

UPDATE: Well it came in the mail today and to my great surprise it's a 1931s! I'm trying to take a clear picture, but I'm having a lot of trouble. I'm not the best at grading coins, but according to Photograde it's easily EF-40. I'll keep trying to get a clear picture for everyone to see.

All in all a pretty good buy for only $3.25 plus $1 shipping.

Awesome pick up! Congratulations!

I hope you're able post a new pic too!
It's good to see the connection between a blurry photo and a sharp shot on the date/mm.
