Hey guys,

So as I continued to search a pile of 1986 Canadian Banknotes, I've stumbled across a few signature/serial number combinations that I believe to be uncommon/rare and worth some money (based on what I've read). But I'm far from an expert, so can anyone confirm the rarity of these and/or a rough estimated value?

1986 5 Dollar Note
Sig# 1: J.W. Crow
Sig# 2: G.K. Bouey
Serial# : EOH Prefix
Estimated Value (Avg. from websites based on UNC grade): $300

Finally, I've read that the 1986 2 Dollar Note with the Thiessen-Crow Signatures and a serial number prefix between BGA-BGZ (Big B) is worth alot of money. How do you identify a "Big B" compared to a "Little B"? I think I have a Little B. Thoughts?

I would say you did pretty good with your assessment of the bills.
I can't see anything I would disagree with.
Your grandmother must have taken good care of them.
What you have is the small B variety.
This picture should help in identifying the difference between the two.

Nice notes! It looks like your research is good, but the value will come down to grades. If you send them in and they come in at uncirculated then yes the values you state will hold true.

I don't think they are low grade as I can't see any folds, but edges would have to be inspected under magnification.

1986 5 Dollar Note
Sig# 1: J.W. Crow
Sig# 2: G.K. Bouey
Serial# : EOH Prefix
Estimated Value (Avg. from websites based on UNC grade): $300 ( in AU condition value is $140 Canadian)

1986 2 Dollar Notes
Sig #1: J.W. Crow
Sig #2: G.K. Bouey
Serial #: AUJ and AUN Prefixes
Estimated Value (Avg. from websites based on UNC Conditions): $65-90 each (AU $30)

For premiums on consecutive notes, you can expect a 10% to %20 premium, unless you get a collector who focuses his collection on consecutive notes.

Perfect, thanks for the confirmation and info guys. Since I'm new to banknote collecting, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't completely out to lunch with what I've found so far

Have you consider getting the Charlton Catalogue of Canadian Paper Money? You don't have to buy it as it is available at many libraries. It is a valuable resource and you can find all the information about currency you want there.
