Any grade between 45-58 isn't going to change the saleable value much, if at all. I'm at 50.

A bit hard to see from the photos (tried to blow them up a bit). Some "wear" in the details on the obverse, especially the hair detail. And quite a few marks and "ticks" on the obverse and the fields look dull (although could be the lighting of the photo). So I would rate the obverse XF45 or AU50. The reverse actually looks a bit better, with better detail, even in the wings of the small eagle. I would rate the reverse a bit higher, probably a solid AU50 or AU53. So, overall, would probably rate as an overall AU50 or so would be my guess, although you would need to really see the fields in the light with the "coin in hand" to see how much original luster is still there. Just my "very unoffical", thoughts based on a Franklin collection I am working on myself. But as stated, anything in this grade range isn't going to be much of a price differential. However, still a nice coin to add to a collection if had at the right cost. Michael

Quote: Anyone else think it has been cleaned? Yes, I just looked at it again. Obverse and reverse both covered with hairlines. AU details cleaned.

the fields do look pretty "rough".. Could just be a lot of "wear", but agree that it could also be "cleaned". Good eye.. and why grading is tough!

Quote: Anyone else think it has been cleaned? if it has been cleaned it would have been prior to my acquiring it some 30 yrs ago...it was in a roll that I had not opened. I'm going through my silver hoard. and have found some interesting things I will be posting more later. I have become more interested in the collecting hobby more than hoarding...and my wife has even showed interest. everyone on here has been so helpful and I appreciated the brutal honesty. Thanks guys for all of your input.
