I am new to searching for errors and varieties, and I am seeing a lot of things that look promising, but I then usually find out that they're no big deal. But if I don't ask, I don't learn.

I have several 1957-D LWCs with similar defects - all have what appears to my untrained eyes as a filled-die on the inner-top side of the 9 in the date.

One example also has a filled area in the 5, between the top horizontal bar and the top of the curve. (1st photo.)

Some of the examples also have the lower loop of the B in LIBERTY filled, and on the example attached (2nd photo), the spacing between the letters is not even. LIBER have wider spacing than RTY. Not sure if this is anything unusual.

The letters of IN GOD WE TRUST are relatively sharp, for the condition of the coins, and evenly spaced, as are the letters on the reverse.

Is there a listing of such filled-die varieties, or are filled-dies so common, especially with '57-D's, that there's no interest?

Welcome! 1957 is the year and D is the mintmark for this. They are all die chips. What you show is not catalogued. There are the "BIE" breaks/chips that happen between the letters in LIBERTY, but I don't see that with yours. I believe I have one with a die chip in the 9, 5 & B.

They may interest someone, but are too common in that time period to command any premium. I like 'em, though, and they are worth keeping!

These defects are commonly found on '50s wheat cents, and perhaps this year more than any other.

Thanks for the responses. I agree with Spruett that while not a major variety, the '57-D die chips are cool in their own way. Even though fairly common, it's always fun to come across another one.
