Here are two bronze scyphate coins attributed by the previous owner to Theodore Angelus Commenus, Ducas of Thessalonia 1222-1230 AD.

However, I haven't been able to find either of these in the Wildwinds database (at http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/byz/...re_I/t.html) under Theodore Commenus Ducas of Thessalonia, or under a couple of rulers before and after, and am confused by the many similar coins. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

First one is Manuel I, a variation on SB-1966. The second one is being a little difficult to pin down but I still checking.

My best guess for #2 is Isaac II? I wish there was a little more detail on the reverse.

Many thanks for your help, echizento. You certainly nailed the first one.
Here are a couple more photos of the second one that might help.

I'll also be posting a couple more unidentified Byzantine scyphates in a few minutes, and will greatly appreciate if if you'll be kind enough to take a look at those.

After looking through a lot of pictures on Wildwinds, found a pretty good match for the second coin, which has the letters KOMNN visible on the right of the reverse.
So I'm going with SB 2062 of Theodore I, photo at http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/byz/...b2062_2.jpg.
