Again waited until 6:30 in the evening before going out. Even so it was still 91 degrees out. Only had two hours of daylight left. We hit a school that had been good to us about 6 months ago. Pulled over $7 in clad from it and some nice Jewelry. Also my second Sac in a week. On the way home we stopped at another elementary school as we still had about half an hours daylight left and pulled another couple of bucks out of that one.

I was just wondering how many schools and parks you have in your neighborhood.....they should pretty much be searched out by now.....Shouldnt they? maybe its just jealousy on my part, but, ive been detecting for years and it seems you find more in one day than ive found in a year.... It could be youre just a lot better at this than I am (which is probably the case)....But you never seem to find poptops or nails I apologize for being so,skeptical,But,Ive always been that way!

I find pull tabs and can slaw nails and such but I don't bother including them in the pictures. Pull tabs have a distinctive tone and for the most part I don't dig them. Canslaw sometimes shows as a dime if its deep.

If it make you feel any better here is the last few months worth of trash. We save it for about six months then my wife and I sort it into different piles and turn in the various metals for recycling. Its not uncommon for us to find four or five pounds of Aluminum in six months..

Looks like the same garbage I dig up. I don't keep any of mine except for the copper I find. Maybe I should start just to see how much trash I dig up.

Wow, nohope. If theres a penny to be made from metal detecting, you've got the bases covered. I assume you turn in the garbage metal into a scrap yard and not just a recycling center, last time I went aluminum was at 50 cents with copper around 1.75 a pound, but I haven't been in awhile.
And I thought the sac coin was interesting because in order for you to find it, someone would have had to drop it. And you really don't find too many people with those things on their person. Its not a valuable find like a gold ring but I would at least think it would be a rare one.
What would you say is your most interesting find ever? Or maybe the most expensive find ever? Or the oldest coin ever? Or the most valuable coin ever?
Personally I think it would be awesome just like, apprentice metal detect with you. I think the whole 'flipping a coin out of the ground with a screwdriver' thing would be just crazy to see.

NOHOPE587...When you search the school grounds do you ever get hasseled by cops or security..
Im asking because the only time I ever attempted to scan a school yard, the cops chased me off the property and I never tried again..

Mr. Finger For the most part the answer is no. I know all the cops in my area as I am always in the Cop shop getting police reports for work visas. I stick to Elementary schools for the most part. Recently I have been taking a Bag of trash into the school and showing the Principle the kind of things that are in their play areas. Most principles could not care less if you detect as long as you leave no signs of your passing but show them a ziplock with rusty box cutter blades and canslaw and they suddenly become interested in having you around. Its also a good idea to go to the local cop shop and tell them you will be detecting in various schools that way they are not surprised by your presence. Only once have I been evicted from a site and that was a county park. I had gotten permission but not in writing. In General be nice be friendly and ask. Some towns I pass through on road trips have good cops some have not so good cops. I always stop by and check before detecting. You might be allowed to detect in certain areas but that does not mean the law enforcement know you are.
