Hi,

How do you get rid of all those extra coins after a day or night of CRH.?
Since banks usually treat us like we are crazy to bring in all that change, I have found a new way to get rid of those extra coins.

The local Walmart has updated it's self service check out machines, there is a slot where you can just pour your change in after your shopping is done. I had an
$80 bill which I paid for in coins from my rolls. It took a few minutes & the associate watched the entire time, but it worked.

In the UK my local branches of Waitrose, Tesco, ASDA and Sainsbury's have those machines. The Waitrose one is great because you can pour the coins in quite fast, whereas in the other shops you have to feed them in individually and it takes some time. I've developed a habit of getting bagged coins from the bank on Friday and then using them for my weekend shopping.

I roll mine up and use them at the gas station.

It really depends on your relationships with the banks...

I have one bank I go to where I dump between 3,000 and 4,000 coins (usually nickels and halves) once a week... they get the big bags out and one of the tellers and I dump them in.

Otherwise, I tend to spread my dumps out... no more than about 25-30 rolls of any particular denomination, and dump them at various banks I use for this purpose. I have a good number of banks near me, so dumping isn't a problem. I try not to overwhelm any one branch.
CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

I have two bank accounts. One bank is the one I buy rolls from. The other bank has a change counting machine that is of no charge to customers that have an account. I dump the change and either take the cash or put it into my savings account. The only downside to the machine is it won't take any kind of damaged coin, so you have to eat that cost (which is never over 25 cents for me).
