I would like to know your policy concerning coins with a decentered stroke. Would you purchase one which is completely decentered? It lowers the price of the coin, of course, but does it lower it dramatically? I give you an example : this stater from Herkleia. Would you yourself consider buying such a coin?

It really depends on the coin. I like the reverse of the coin, but the obverse is a disaster in my view so I would definitely discount it.

On the other hand I will pay more for a off-set coin with a clear inscription or name, especially if it doesn't have a face.

As a matter of personal opinion, I only collect Greek coins for their aesthetic appeal. Lacking most of the face is a pretty big turn-turn-off for me. I would sure as heck bid in a 99 cent auction, but would not bid more than maybe 1/3 of a centered coin's price.

Thank you, your comments are helpful. I tended to discount it myself... even if the reverse is attractive... Thanks
Rest in Peace

There are far more nice coins available than the available funds to buy them all. Consequently, I'd rather have 10 beautiful coins I love, as opposed to 50 coins I tolerate.

I usually stay away from coins that are severely off centered.

As jskirwin said it really depends on the coin or series you're collecting...

IMO if an offset strike reveals something new or a part of the die not usually seen it can be quite rewarding...

This coins reverse is nice but the obverse doesn't reveal anything of substance, just blank silver,so even though the cost would be cheaper, personally, I'd save up and buy a more centralised coin.
