Two of these coins are for sale on ebay. They are not mine, but I was using them for diagnostics. I am going to stick all three up and see how you attribute them. Two have been attributed by the seller, and the other is mine, which I am having trouble identifying. What is the Newcomb number for all three? Thanks!

All the reverses are the same, so the difference is on the obverse side. Photos of the obverses are below.

The top two coins are both N-38. At first I thought the 5 of the coin in the top photo was closer to the curl, but after zooming in on the date I determine that it is not. I thought maybe one of the coins was attributed incorrectly, but it turns out they are both N-38 just like the seller has them marked. The bottom photo is of my Large Cent that I am having trouble attributing. I thought it might be N-38, but it is not. I am out of Newcomb numbers, and I do not seem to have a match.

Is this coin authentic? It does not look to me to be a counterfeit. Thanks.

Condor101 explained it to me. My coin is N-3 LDS. Polishing of the dies causes the distance issue. 1851 N-3 is very rare in LDS, so that explains why I was not able to find an 1851 N-3 similar to mine on the Internet. Also, most everyone wants the EDS because it shows the error clearly. It all makes sense to me now, and I hope this posting will help others just learning to attribute Large Cents like me.
