Got an email from Wexler today about a 1966 cent I sent in. I found this one right around the time TropicalBats posted about Wexler listing his 1966 1¢ WDDO-002. It is a minor doubled die with doubling under the L in LIBERTY. It is now listed as WDDO-003 and will be added to Wexler's site in the next update. I probably won't get the coin back in a while so I can't take good full coin pics. But I do have pics of possible die markers that I sent to Wexler. Die scratches around the date and the remnants of a strong die clash on the reverse.

Stop that! Now I have to find one of those to keep my 66 DDO set complete. Ah well, there's always one more to find isn't there...

Congratulations on the new DDO discovery! Even though it's a minor one, it's still very cool and interesting. Now, I'll be looking for it.
Errers and Varietys.

I'll be needing that coin, give it up, let me just hold it for safe keeping. Ahhhh you scored, congratulations. I better start paying closer attention to Liberty. Good eye.

TropicalBats, if I find a second WDDO-003 I'd trade you it for a WDDO-002 (If you still have more than one).

I do have a couple more of them and certainly a fair trade. I'll put one aside with your name on it.

Well done both of you! I can't help but wonder if I missed any of these during the early years. When I first started I only searched for known varieties. Congrats too on the other few new listings Keith!

Thanks Jay! I just got back from Mr. Wexler the three new DDOs he recently listed and sent off another couple for his consideration. And I always think the same thing as you, what did I miss when I was just starting out and only looking for known varieties. But that is really the best way to go as it is quite hard to find new stuff without knowing a lot about the known stuff. Fortunately I saved a lot of the coins I couldn't figure out and have been able to go back and look at them later. Most are just various forms of nothing which I now understand are nothing, but a few have turned out to be well worth saving. But a 1966 "bar under L" I have never seen and have a feeling we are all going to see a lot of normal L's before finding any more of those. It's gotta be a rare find, but hopefully from a roll with a dozen of them so we can spread them around a bit.

What's up bats? Tanman got a nice one there, I honestly have given most 1966 cents only a quick glance on the Liberty. Like most of us I only searched the cherrypick book listings my first 150,000. Now all get heavily scrutinized by the 10x and the 16× if need be. I have an 88D in 65 RED with good strong south doubling on TED of UNITED and extra thickness on Pluribus Unum. When I have time I will get some closeups. Bareknuckle sticktime and self learning is the only way I learned, like algebra I at first just didn't get it? Its coming together. Then what? We get old I know. I picked up an 83 FS-802 in AU and its awesome. Easily missed coin unless you Kent it sideways, you just don't see much of anything...tilt down and pow! There it is United States and E Pluribus have wicked doubling. What am I rambling about? This is Tanmans post. Tanman, sell me that coin :)
