I have had this bill since I was a kid. Can anyone shed any light on it or its value? I forgot to photograph the reverse but that is normal, no ink missing.

I think it is called a gutter fold, but I'll defer to experts.

Looks to be a piece of scrap attached to the bill. Pick at a corner and see if it lifts up.

Nothing is attached to it. It actually sinks in where there is no ink. Its as if the paper was folded as it was printed

Cool find.

If it were a fold of sorts wouldn't that affect the reverse too?

I wonder then if it wasn't an errant security strip on the outside of the print sheet that was printed on and then came off. It wouldn't necessarily been seen at BEP as a sheet error prior to cut. the bills then cut and sent off with that piece falling off later. Is a printing error then. Interesting find.

NOTE the offset....right side is slightly higher than left on print! On coins it's called a "strike-thru debris"...

Interesting theory but if you look closely you can see there is no ink missing. I mean If you were to fold the bill to remove the crease you would see the ink match up.

It's called a gutter fold error. Fairly common error, but a neat one.

The face and back are printed on different presses with the back being printed first.

The sheet had a small wrinkle while going through the second printing.
