Photo 3 looks like coat of arms of Papal States.

Are these silver? Bronze?

For the second coin, a quattrino from Papal States, Ravenna might be a possibility: https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/co...Default.aspx

You can see "RAV" on the reverse of yours at about 3:00

Thanks for the info, tdziemia. The coins are copper. The second coin definitely looks like the Ravenna coin you mentioned.

These two coins were with a lot of coins belonging to the Knights of Malta. I have tried to identify the first coin within the Kingdom of Sicily and the Crusader kingdoms, but to no success.

For the second coin as belonging to Ravenna (Papal States), I found these links too, which confirms it.

On your first coin, I am guessing that some of the real medieval experts will track it down today or tomorrow.

On your Ravenna coin, it appears there are several varieties:

- My link to Numista, and your second link show a variety with reverse lettering S*A* (bishop's head and staff) P*RAV*

- Your first link shows a variety with different lettering,
S*APOL* (bishop's head and staff) S*A*

- Your coin shows yet another variation in the lettering
S*A* (bishop's head) P (bishop's staff) RAV*

I don;t know if this is from a different papal reign, or just another variety of this same coin. Someone with access to a good catalog could check.

Saint Apollinaris, who is pictured on this coin, was the first bishop of Ravenna, and was martyred in 79 A.D. HIs relics are in the church there which bears his name, and which also contains some lovely ancient mosaics.

I have a coin very similar to the second one and my research at that time brought me the same conclusion as the other posters.
