Impressive collection!

You could open a numismatic public library.

I haven't been here long. So I've never heard you say it but thank you for repeating it. It is definitely food for thought.

And in my opinion the want list is a good thing if used in conjunction with an inventory so as to prevent duplicate purchases.

And great job on building such a huge library!

Just reading all that made me tired. Sure must have taken you a lot of time compiling all that.

Well, I know you're joking, but I'll address this anyway. The coin collection itself is certainly no Eliasberg, Pogue or Norweb level collection, but it's pretty decent for a budget collector. My main collection (the certified dime and the coins in the 2x2s, as well as the 1853 a&r quarter and gem proof Jefferson nickel) is small, (22 coins in over 6 to 8 years), but that's because I'm getting picky about the coins I buy. Just Because I spent $150 on a VF-20 coin instead of $15,000 on an MS-67 coin doesn't mean I don't Care about quality. I may have budget restrains, but I still try my best to reject problem coins. I'm still trying to get better at spotting quality (or lack of it.) As for the library? Well, it may not be the Dwight N. Manley Library or Ken Bressett's personal collection, but it's decent enough for my needs, and it's slowly growing. I do want to add some series specific specialty books to it, however. Anyway, thanks for congratulating me on my "Nice pile."

Hi. That's an amazing post! Has book #22 on your list, "Numismatic Forgery," been any help to you? There's so many copies out there today it's scary.

I've always prided myself on putting together a nice collection on a budget by carefully selecting coins as you said. It takes patience and some focus on what coins you really want, so I'd say you are on a good track.

What I need before I can tale pictures of my coins:
1) new light bulb. I prefer incandescent bulbs, and they're getting harder for me to find. Wherever I go almost everything is either fluorescent or LED now, and it's annoying.
2) Copy stand
3) USB cable
4) new coin holders. I want to photograph the coins outside the holders to avoid the glare of the plastic.
5) Space to work in

Almost every hardware store near me carries incandescent light bulbs. I usually go to Lowe's or True Value Hardware.
