Has anyone ever seen this medal or have any information about it and what it's made of? The medallion actually weighs 273 grams.

Some alloy of brass with an antique patina on it. Probably given out to employees and sales force. IT isn't worth much it is one of those items that has limited or narrow appeal. it would be in the bargain bin at the local coin store, for a couple of bucks if it was marked with a higher price it would be in the 50% off bin. tractor collectors might pay a little more.
Despite the name of the company it is a mint that will make anything thing you are willing to pay for. It isn't any precious metal in any form.

Caterpillar Bulldozers commissioned the Medallic Art Co. N.Y., to do 2" and 3" bronze medallions, for their 50th Anniversary (1904-1954), of their first tracked vehicle.

I have seen ebay prices up to $300 for the 3" bronze medal.

I would assume that Caterpillar would have been in a good position to make tracked armored military vehicles during WW1.

A search on Google Images may yield a bit more medallic information for the Case Vehicles as well.
