Hello again forum.

It has been a wee bit but I have a question.

A guy has a 68 star note listed for sale on ebay. He also has a second 68 star note listed on ebay. Thy are the exact same note. Same serial number, same certificate number, same scratches visible on the Mylar.

One is a "buy it know" and one is an auction.

I would like this note to for my set so I messaged him asking if he had two of the three star 68 notes on the registry and was using the same picture for both.

He told me he only had the one and was planning to end the buy it know option in a day.

I thought that was understandable but if someone does buy it what about the auction version with 15 bids on it? What would happen to them?

Does this seem a bit fishy to everyone or am I reading too much into it?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't be too concerned. I have had BIN listings on ebay that became unavailable, and I only got to removing them after a day or so.
I was just busy, and was not too worried that someone would buy it, since the asking price was higher than I expected to get for it.
I am not saying it is a good practice, but it wouldn't make me worry about the authenticity of the item.

Is 68 the grade or the year? If it's a certified note, look up the certification to verify it's exactly the same as the note in the auction.
Rest in Peace

Finn, good point, it can be checked. Yes the policy of using two modes to sell products on the bay is rampant, people wanna get rid of it any way fast, and sometimes forget to canx one or the other. Stinks if auction is yanked, but it happens, product no longer available! Would be one to put on list of questionable sellers perhaps. ebay definitely don't care, they got their money either way!

Its against ebay rules, but its not a big deal. If he sells it, he'll end the auction with item no longer available. I bring coins to shows, sell them, and then take them off ebay because they're gone. Its not much different.

Probably legitimate, but not a good practice.
