I picked this up at the Charing Cross collector's fair today. I hadn't planned to go but happened to be passing by. Anyway a dealer who was in the process of packing up sold me this unresearched As of Vespasian.

I think it is a fairly rare Judaea Capta As which depicts a captured trophy of arms rather than a palm tree. Any thoughts?

Well it has seen some better days hasn't it !
For a budget minded collector it has some appeal and all in all I have seen corroded coppers that looked much worse !
Might have an interesting history perhaps. Pocketed by a Crusader and brought home as a sounvenir ........ smashed by who knows who. If only it could tell us you how it found it's way to your pocket
