So, I do not like ebay just to get that out of the way. I figured I would try to sell a few coins on there and see how it goes. through experiences in my other hobbies I really hate shipping outside of Canada so my question is

If you have a 100 bidders on a Canadian coin, about how many of those bids would be from the US?

Just trying to figure out how bad I am limiting the "buyers pool" by limiting my shipping to my home field.

Thanks for any advice, I need lots LOL

I can speak for Minnesota collectors, next to your border. Most coin shows have a large selection of Canadian coins, especially dollars. They sell quite well.

I'm not sure of a percentage you might lose, but you would certainly lose a few, depending more on your postal costs than on any other factor.

ebay isn't bad. You just have to play their game.

Hard to say. You will probably have bidders from both the US and Canada.
Of course who ends up with the highest bid is anyone's guess.

Not sure you want to hear this. But more than 50% of my ebay sales, go to US collectors who collect Canadian coins. ebay allows them access to coins that their local coin dealers and coin shows do not...

Silver is always a tricky beast, and I insist on charging shipping fees to include shipment by expedited mail (includes tracking). Non-silver coins and coins worth less than $50, I just use letter mail postage.

Shipping between the US and Canada isn't bad, provided we aren't talking big bucks coins. The floor price of a first class (tracked) package within the US is $2.66 right now (including paypal/eBay discount); I just shipped a coin to Canada for $3.50. I have purchased from Canadian sellers who only charge about $3 for shipping - I imagine it costs them less than that, or not much more.

I think 50/50.

It also depends on the shipping fee. If your coin value is low and shipping fee to US is high, the # of US bidder will drop as well.
