I believe it is German States, but I have no idea what it might be worth or what it is, for that matter. My Krause doesn't go this old. Almost the exact size of a US quarter, it is copper or bronze? KLD Pillar of the Community Australia 1079 Posts	Posted 12/31/2005 10:59 pm It is certainly a German States coin. I do not have my kruase book with me at the moment so I can't tell you what state. Becky even if you have the current book you can identify the shield with the particular state. The older book is only good for the exact value of the coin and mintage figures plus a few stats. I can tell you from my memory that it is a lower denomination coin minted during the time of Germany's unification. Personally I would value the coin at no more then a few dollars. This is due to its low denomination and the large number available. Nice details left in the coin though. Report this Post to the Staff
tbirde56 New Member United States 30 Posts	Posted 01/01/2006 02:34 am Much of the pertinent info is there on the coin: it is a 1 kreuzer (100 to a Gulden) dated 1854 from the central German state of Saxe-Meiningen. That makes it KM-163, a copper one year type with a mintage of 202,000 valued at about $3. Report this Post to the Staff
