I purchased this 1905 O half dollar in the same lot as the 1909 O quarter I have in another post, the damage was not nearly as widespread. It was also soaked in multiple baths of acetone over the past week.

I would love your general thoughts as well as grade and relative value!

I paid $6.88 for the Half if anyone was curious.

Low grade barbers are best left alone, including no acetone.

It's low Good, and I'd have to be ED too.

I'll kindly disagree.
I, as a coin enthusiast, would rather the coin stay in its present condition than continue to corrode away because of PVC or whatever contaminant was present on the coin.

Thank you for the input though Mox!
Rest in Peace

1905 O was my arch nemesis to find PQ in F-XF when really hot for these back in early 2000's.

If you see PVC on a coin worth saving, absolutely acetone bath to stop the corroding slime.

This, of course, just raises the question, is this a coin worth saving? You have a G4 coin (accounting for the weak strike) with some minor rim issues, splotchy toning and old cleaning. If it's a match for your set, then you did fine for melt value cost.
