Last of my Markka coins that will go for NGC Europe grading week. How would you grade it? Line on obverse "SELWÄÄ" text is die crack. I'll post NGC grade later. Edited by kheldim81 05/10/2018 07:14 am

Hi Kheldim. That's a lovely coin. Your pictures are a bit blurry and I can't quite see the fields clearly, but I do see a well struck coin with excellent detail and visible luster. I don't see any hairlines in the above pictures or signs of cleaning so is I'd say it's a safe bet that your coin will grade straight.
All in all, I'd say your coin will grade in the MS63-MS65 range. I can provide a more accurate grade if you post clearer pictures of the fields.

Hi Cableguy. Unfortunately I can't take any better pictures than that. But here are auction photos. I hope fields are clearer on these photos.

The coin looks clean; I'd be very surprised with a grade below MS64.

Sent this coin today for NGC grading. My grade for this coin is MS66 (just to see how wrong or right I am when I get NGC grade).

XF? Tough crowd! Lol. Makes the Early American Coppers team over here rather soft :p

In Denmark and Norway we are much more conservative when grading numismatic subjects than in The US and most countries. Some tongues say different, but they are people with the interest of earning easy money on behalf of collectors without enough knowledge.
In Finland and Sweden the grade their coins even more conservative. I have seen this in a very serious coin club in Skåne, Sweden. If you visit you will see what I mean, but the selling prices are in respect of the conservative grading.
When I see coins from Scandinavia in this forum, I do see and respect the US way of grading, but I believe it is important to tell what grading a Scandinavian coin will carry here where the coins are made.

This coin was graded as 01-0 Rare condition by one of leading Finnish numismatic auctions. That grade would be between BU/UNC.
For uncirculated coins I do like US grading system more. Because it offers more accuarate grading for uncirculated coins. And for classic coins grade 0 BU (MS70) is a dream coin it doesn't exist.
-edit corrected grade 01 to 0.
