It's not really possible to grade ancients on the same scales as modern coins, since they are quite different in manufacture, and almost without exception cleaned.

I would say VF/XF but it's hard to see if the area around the ear is worn or just weakly struck.

NGC uses a 5 point scale each for strike and surface. I would say 4/5 strike (worn obverse die) and 3/5 surface on account of the deposits. Is the edge chipped, or just irregularly shaped?

EF-40 and possibly a "details" grade if the black spots are corrosion.

When looking for wear at the high points only, this coin should be close to MS, but consider my previous grading opinion.

Many other factors come into play (that are not otherwise relevant with modern machine pressed coins), when grading ancient and hammered coins.

Some grading factors in no particular order:
. quality of flan
. sharpness of strike
. quality of artwork die cutting
. completeness of detail, including legends
. acceptable (or not) patina- a nice even green patina on a Roman sestertius adds value
. corrosion (only when minor thus - still get a grade) - corrosion on a modern coin almost totally ruins it to non a non grader.

NGC sometimes seems to have a different approach to grading than I have
(but not always ),
when grading hammered and ancient coins.

That's quite OK and acceptable to me, despite the differences.
