I have bought some clear, round plastic tubes to store my coins. They work well for storing the coins, but the problem is they tend to roll, being rounded, so I was looking to buy some of the square plastic coin containers, such as Numis. I was wondering how I could tell if Numis-brand or any other brand of coin tubes contained PVC or not.
Some posts online claim that if the tube is flexible at all it contains PVC, but are there any non-flexible square tubes that don't contain it? I have a tube in front of me for half dollars that has flex, Numis brand, but I am not sure.
Thanks!

Coin storage tubes are made from acryllic plastic, not PVC.
uPVC used for plastic pipes is OK too; it is the oily plasticizers in clear PVC album pages that leach out and cause problems. (Unplasticized) (u)PVC pipes do not have plasticizers to soften the material.

The cloudy square ones would be made from nonPVC polyethylene.

The opaque square tubes may be the best. Being flexible doesn't mean it contains PVC. Mylar is flexible and is 100% coin safe.

"Flexible" is related to two things: - the thickness of the item - the material used to make it
Coin pages are flexible because they are thin,
Coin tubes are rigid because they are thick.
Thin films can be made from PVC, mylar, polyethylene, polypropylene, etc.. Of these, only PVC films have plasticizers that can come out and get on your coins, as best I know.

I use clear round because I like to see if my rims remain mint red or are they toning down to brown .

polyethylene and polypropylene are not clear, but are safe for coin use. Mylar is PET (coke bottle plastic) and is safe. Tubes are generally not made from PVC. I cannot think of any reason to do so. Acrylic plastic is also used. It is naturally UV resistant without additives, which I guess could be important if you do flea markets outside or garage sales.
