Please cut out all of the background. I'm sure you don't want your carpet graded.

Also, if you can shoot directly down on the coin, rather than at an angle.

We are seeing two obverse photos but no reverse photo.

We will be happy to help once we can see the coin a little better.

Obverse appears to be 62-65. Can't get closer without the reverse photo.

Sharpness seems to be in the ms64 range and the obverse luster looks good. The reverse otoh looks lusterless, sharpness drops off some and I think I see some parallel hairlines. Can you show a picture of the reverse with better lighting? Posting pics on CCF was tough for me too in the beginning, but you get used to it.

Can't tell much about the surfaces from these pics. I don't think the image optimizer is the trouble here. Please take photos using better lighting, and straight down on the coin.

Most likely a fake 1885 CC. Rare date commonly counterfeited. The surfaces will not improve with imagery. CC Morgans, for the most part have superb surfaces and strikes.

Definitely not a fake.
the coin collection I inherited has been tucked away for well over 60 years.
My grandmother gave them to me because I was taught the hobby of collecting from my grandfather.
I received close to 1000 coins.
Not all Morgans but probably close to every coin minted since 1798.
The majority of them in excellent condition.
I have sold a number of the doubles & triples I have & the idea of fakes has never even entered the equation.
I would bet a fair sum there isn't one counterfeit in my entire collection including my own collection.
I sold a 1851 D Gold 2.5$ 1/4 eagle in AU58.
If I had a dollar for everyone that told me it was fake I could retire!!
I'm just thankful for my blessing of having these coins passed to me.
But thanks for the input..
