Here is another one that I sent in and is being sent back now, what would you grade it?

The above post is not helpful at all. Technical grade yucky? It has a nice technical grade. This is usually weakly struck coin especially in the stars and is scarce in high grades. It's an under appreciated date and this one seems well struck. Heymikep, does the coin really look like this in person? I've had trouble photographing my Seated coins and they appear washed out and white when they are anything but that. Below is an example. No matter how much I try I can't get the color right. I'm thinking you might be struggling also since all of your coins kind of have that appearance.

Quote: Technical Grade YUCKY. Eye Appeal YUCKY. Yes, My pictures do not do justice. Quote: does the coin really look like this in person? No, Not at all. It actually looks really nice and you do not see the blue at all. I have never been able to take decent pictures of any of my coins. It seems like every coin I post looks like crap, confirmed by the comments I get. Oh well, I like the coins I get and will keep them until something better comes along (which they always do!). PS. This one did straight grade!

Son of a gun, man. You better get on that with the pictures, Mike. I'm the same way. I suck at taking pictures but all the coins I purchase are from auction sites so I get to cheat and use their pictures. I too always wondered why your coins have the blue-cleaned look. I avoid commenting on your posts cause I don't want to insult your tastes. But with this last group, I was contemplating having an all out intervention!

Quote: I was contemplating having an all out intervention! I have been waiting for someone to talk to me! I guess it is official, I will no longer collect coins until after I take a photo class and learn how to take pictures. MikeF, what took you so long to tell me? It would never hurt my feelings when you tell me the truth, how am I ever going to learn!

I do apologize for my YUCKY comment. Those first photos, as you well know, don't appear to make the coin look like anything other than detailed.
I ALWAYS talk about photographs being deceptive in trying to grade, decide details, or measure eye appeal. I should have listened to my own advice on this one.
Don't stop collecting - just wait to photograph them when you feel more confident.
One hint I would pass on is that if you can set the coin at a reclining angle and photograph flat to that Angel it allows the light to show better details. Also, the background color can make a huge difference, too. I use an eggshell white which seems to get me closest to real color.
