Interesting coin(at least to me)—any way to find the date of this coin?—also what grading would you give it and its value—from what I read the date can be really varied and I would think the older the more valuable—any other fun facts would be great—thanks

Please crop and rotate your photos.
It makes it easier to view.
You can even see the date better when
it is oriented the right way.

It appears to be a modern restrike of the 1780 Maria Teresa Thaler. Probably uncirculated. The $15.00 price seems to be in the right ballpark, though more than I would pay. It contains about .75 Troy oz. of silver.

I think the little dot thing in the central shield in the reverse arms (see bottom of the center stripe of the Austrian arms in the middle of reverse) identifies this coins as a modern (post 1980s) Vienna restrike. Worth bullion, maybe a bit more in proof conditions or in original packaging.

Instructions for posting photos.
Cropping is important.

Images should be cropped closely to the coin and resized to no more than 800 or so pixels on the longest side. Also make sure your image is oriented right side up. Please, this is very important.

It usually isn't possible to narrow down a restrike to a specific date of manufacture, though a mint and approximiate time period should usually be possible. Ths website gives a list of varieties of the Maria Theresa thaler, with pictures of each major variety.

Yours is, of course, a modern (20th-21st century) restrike; I would concur that it is the currently-issued variety from the Vienna Mint. Specific page. You can still buy one just like it from the Austrian Mint website for 21 euros.
