I was hoping for some more info on this recent find. I'm still learning about the great war and its massive scale, would this be an authentic medal made during or just after the conflict? Thank you.

The ANS has an online database of WWI related medals yours was among the ones listed http://numismatics.org/aod/id/6185.22514.1?lang=en

The artist was Emile Vernier and struck by the Mint in Paris.
