I was weighing all my '82's I have sorted and saved the rust bucket for last...2.970... I look at it and can barley see its a small date 1982.. Crazy part is when I look at it under my pocket microscope I can see a D.. I swear.. I want to clean it so bad but everything have read said NO. I need advice on what to do. Mind you, all the coins I have been sorting come from my boss and some of these coins came from his dad, which he did collect coins. They are all in this burlap sack that my boss kept throwing all his pennies everyday in for years with out worrying that he should have kept them seperate from some of his Dads coins... Now I'm sorting, and trying to rediscover the jewels

I hate to burst any bubbles, but the coin in the pic is a Large Date. Even in that condition, it is easily distinguishable.

Its a plain philly large date 82. From that pic I see nothing that resembles a D mint mark anywhere. The small dates are a lot farther from the rim. When you find one you'll see the difference immediately ;)

No need to apologize. Many of us learn from every question.

Keep asking, but remember to post complete photos of both sides, then closeups.

It's a Large Date Cent, not a Small Date. Also it's from Philadelphia, not Denver.
