It may be a die chip, but the copper plate is already beginning to suffer, so it won't be too long before zinc rot will make the coin worth only face value.

It looks like a die chip to me. That is a common place to see the first die issues like chips and cracks on Shield cents.

There's really no added value, but it's neat. Keep it if you like it.

It's a Die Chip, but in a very common area. There's no premium over face value for this, but you can still keep it if you want to.
