Can you make out the date? Looks like the 1880's. The 1885 and 1886 are hard to come by.

To CCF , a very worn V-Nickel . I agree looks like 1800's .Try to bring up the date with a few DROPS of vinegar & peroxide . No sense in soaking the whole coin .

189X, only semi-key date worth more than a buck is the 1894.

Only absolute telling differences is on the 1883 the first issues didn't have the word "CENTS" on reverse and the 1912 was the only year with mintmarks D/S under dot to left of CENTS. Key Dates=1885,1886 & 1912S...Semi-key dates are 1884,1887, 1888 & 1894. All others are common and can be had for $.50 each.
