Can anybody help with the identification of this coin?
It appears to be made of silver and 16x10 mm in size

I recognise the curved shape on the reverse. It's Greek, not Roman, a silver tetrobol from Histiaea, Greece, like this one on Wildwinds. Obverse, head of nymph Histiaea, reverse nymph Histiaea seated astride prow of ship. Check the main wildwinds index page for Histiaea for more examples.

There are apparently plenty of fakes of this kind of coin around, but the fakes are usually in much better condition than yours is.

THANX Echizento and Sap,
I guess there is something to say about not having a coin in perfect shape!
