It looks as if the initials FG are above the 2nd 9 at about 1 oclock. Can anyone confirm this or set me straight on what I'm seeing please? Thank you.

Why would there be FG initials when it is a Canadian cent? Not seeing it with that pic.Can you post a better pic with the area in question circled?

No way for it to be a die clash.
Probably some form of PMD.

Cant possibly be a clash of any type, the letter F does not appear anywhere on this coin.

Thank you JimmyD. That was helpful.

John1 if I knew why there would be an FG on a Canadian coin, I wouldn't have asked the question myself. Wouldn't you say? The F is plain as day at the 1 oclock position to the 9. If you cant see it, then me circling it certainly won't help. There is something right beside the F resembling a G. I dont know what it is. Hence my inquiry to the forum.

There is also nothing on Liz's profile that would cause any king of a clash that would resemble a letter. I think that it's just the dirt or corrosion build-up that looks like an "F".

Pareidolia.
It comes up quite often in coin collecting.
Just do a search for the word on this forum.
Here's an example from yesterday.

That's a stain, not an error.
