In July of 2010, KurtS runs a contest to celebrate 12,000 posts and calls it his triple palladium pillardom contest.

He makes a mistake and mentions that he plans on awarding everyone who enters something. His contest gets posted on multiple sites including Yahoo,MSN and Google's home page and gets picked up by the media circuit. Every local news cast reports on the story and KurtS is even interviewed on the Jimmy Kimmel Show. KurtS is such a riveting interview, that he receives multiple offers including his own TV show and a book deal.

Over 5 million new members join the CCF website to enter his contest. Luckily KurtS is now a Multi Millionaire and buys 5 million slabbed 1989P nickels for his contest giveaway at $.08 a piece or a mere $400,000. Now how to mail them all? KurtS decides to hand deliver them during a stadium book tour across the world. He also gives away a slabbed "Cupro-nickel bullion" with every book purchase.

Oh man, that depends. Disclaimer: prizes are while supply lasts, at my discretion. It's not like I'm the US Treasury, printing money on a whim.
Hilarious stuff guys!

Just make sure you give "Newman" a coin, or he might be tempted to make them "disappear" en route to all of the winners!

(Inside joke--Jbuck's last milestone prize got swiped by the post office)

Oh, if I must...Newman gets one too. But I'm sure that's all been arranged.

Due to the high cost of transportation, building materials became prohibitively expensive. The grandson of one famous collector, and HSN addict, desperately needed to roof the dilapidated house he had inherited. Necessity became the mother of invention and soon he had covered a significant portion of his home with a 'slabbed' roof. He became a local celebrity and soon he converted the whole roof to 'slabbed' while people were coming by and cheering him on.

He was interviewed on syndicated programs and seen on magazine covers. Soon celebrities were fighting to hire him to 'slab' their roofs. Rapidly imitators sprang up all over and it was the rage to have a slabbed roof. Jokes were even made about cooking coin collectors if they were caught 'nibbling' on your roof.

But, alas, all fads come to an end, whom among you don't remember the ugly revelations of the fake Zimbabwe 'slabs' scam?

This has been a very funny continuation of my original scenario--thanks everyone for playing!
Since closure is a good thing, you're invited to nominate the best stories, or I'll simply pick the top 5,10, etc.
Then I'll post a list of coins, and the winners get to pick based on their place in the tier.
Rest in Peace

With the cost of diesel fuel edging past $12 a gallon in 2010, the board of directors of UnionPacificBurlingtonSantaFeMKTB&O realize that to keep their engines running and to avoid bankruptcy they'll have to find an alternative source of fuel. In a flash of inspiration, one board member shouts, "Buy the slabs!" And so they do, although they have to modify their fuel system slightly to accept both toxic burning plastic and melting metal. No problem! The fumes are recycled to turbocharge the engines; and as the metal coins melt from the heat of combusting plastic, the metal pours into appropriate molds for little 2-4-2 locomotives and Skyliners, which are then sold at the usual inflated prices on HSN. Voila! Bankruptcy is avoided, and the trains keep running!

2011 - It was determined that there might be enough of these "worthless" slabs to build "highway" from the earth to the moon. This will allow anyone to see that we did indeed put a man on the moon! What was surprising is that there ended up being more than enough slabs to build several "Kramer Lanes" to the moon.

2013 - The engineers still had enough slabs to build the necessary 500 "truck stops" along the way, for food and fuel.

2015 - The initial project was complete, but less than 20% of the slab hoard was used. It was determined that Disney should be able to use the remainder in the construction of LunarDisneyland. Of course, several resort chains and competing attractions built around the Disney development. But even they could not use them all.

2017 - After LunarDisneyland opened, it was discovered that barely 35% of the hoard had been consumed. A new project was created: The Lunar City.

2020 - The Lunar City is complete. It comfortably houses five million lunar inhabitants and all of their business endeavours!

2025 - It was discovered that the Lunar City left about 25% of the hoard intact. The "Far Side of the Moon" project was able to use them to build a giant stationary reflector, allowing people on earth to see the far side without need to travel there.

2029 - There are rumours that about 12~15% of the original hoard still exists, somewhere, deep in space...

Ok, I'm going to close the contest--I think there's enough entries, and I need to get a rough inventory of giveaways before I proceed further.

Thanks everyone--it was a lot of fun!

Yay! I'm glad you liked my advert!

I'm too lazy to send an additional PM though. Might I select the Canada 1953 "shoulder fold" and "no shoulder fold" set (2 coins) AU-UNC as my prize?
