09rich15 New Member United States 33 Posts	Posted 08/12/2018 6:30 pm I've been using acetone for a long time now and I haven't had any adverse effects. If your coin has grime on it, it will in time lead to porosity and environmental damage. I have coins that I have had over 50 years that will testify to that conclusion. Report this Post to the Staff

If you do use Acetone for coins, do not mix several different coins in the same batch of Acetone. And possible dirt or grime on one coin could end up on the others as the Acetone evaporates. I did that once with a batch of coins all in the same jar with Acetone. When the coins were removed, some really looked messed up. Always do one coin at a time and discard used Acetone.
