I had the opportunity to visit a coin shop 90 miles away (I was visiting a friend) and I picked up these three pieces.

A 1963 silver canadian voyager dollar. I have a hunch that the coin shop sold this for me at way undervalue. It might not even be silver for all I know, but it was sold as a silver piece, and it is definitely in MS condition. I got it for nine dollars.

A 1857 Flying Eagle cent. The local coin shop near me doesn't have very many of these and the ones they do have are not in great condition. This coin shop I went to had two VF's with one being previously cleaned, and then this VG piece. Oddly enough, I picked this VG piece over the VF because I thought it was the most attractive (besides the cleaned coin). Thirty dollars.

Now, I know this last coin I paid too much for, but when I saw it I fell in love with it. I used to live in Australia and I like animals so this coin just spoke it me. Thirty Five dollars.

An Australian proof 1 oz. silver 2005 Kookaburra dollar.

I can't comment on the other coins, but the Kookaburra was a good buy. Issue price was $57 and current catalogue is $75.

And $9 is a good deal for the Canada $1, as it's .6 oz of silver (.6 x 17.40/oz. = $10.44)

Wow, awesome!

Yeah, I thought the dollar was a good buy because a website I've used in the past (I don't know if I'm allowed to mention their name or not so I wont) sells them for thirteen apiece, and I thought the Kookaberra might have been a little more because the same website sells the 2007 for 26. But Iatman would definitely know more about that than I do so now I'm estatic.

The coin dealers brought out the dollar when I asked if they had any canadian maple leaves. I first asked her if this dollar was a proof coin because the canoe front is nice but the back (not pictured) almost has a mirror like surface thats hard to catch with the scanner I'm using. They said no it was just in good condition.

I'm lovin this.

That '63 Canadian is pretty neat !...

And I like the Australian coin too .....
I recently gifted an Australian coin to my neice....a proof one with the "horse" and Elizabeth 2

The Flying Eagle cent.......I've got 4 or 5 of those, and I really like em' too......buying them in good grades is preferrable but costly......and that one is pretty worn out, but if you didn't have one.....now ya do !....

Nice grabs........

Flying Eagles are tough to grade in my opinion. I would've thought that one to be about a G6, without seeing the reverse.

And that Australian coin is awesome! I have never seen that before!

I really didn't have much trust in what they quoted me for a grade either. This coin shop I went to was more of a bullion depository than coin antiquities shop. They actually had some cool stuff like gold bars and platinum coins. Anyways, the shopkeep was with another customer so his wife helped me out, gave me what eagles they had, then looked in the RedBook, determined grades herself and then quoted me prices. I basically just bought based on what I was willing to pay for a coin in such condition. So maybe this flying eagle isn't worth 30 dollars and I overpaid, but thats still the price I was willing to pay for a coin in this condition. Make any sense? Yeah, it would have been cool to have gotten more for my money but condsidering my pickens of flying eagles in shops are slim, I'm quite happy with it.

Actually $30 is a pretty good deal for that particular coin, from what I can tell. If you went into a regular coin shop you probably would've paid close to 40 for it!
