I have a ways to go before 10,000 and I enjoy having contests and giving away stuff. 7,500 posts seems like a milestone I can appreciate and celebrate with a contest/giveaway. I committed to it earlier by purchasing prizes.  I have a special idea for how the prizes will be distributed that I hope will work (hint: perpetual giveaway). I just passed 7.5K and will have some sort of contest @ 10K, unless I can come up with something beforehand. Congrats on approaching 7.5K!

That's for a couple reasons. There is still time! I am currently over 50 posts away. Who knows? I may slow down intentionally. Quote:

I was going to wait until 10,000, but I decided the Contest forum was too dead and we need to have some summer fun! As always, my contest will be open to all members in any country as long as you have 50 posts or more. I believe the prizes this time will be the most diverse and unusual I have offered in a contest.
