Hello! Recently my collection
was replenished with a nice
coin of Jaipur paisa. The
attempt to find out the year
proved to be difficult: regnal year 37 has two
rulers, and these types-KM-105 and KM-130 are quite similar. It can be both 1872 and 1916. How to know
exactly and how to
distinguish these two
types? Also, the weight of the coin is 5.80 grams, while everywhere they
write it should be within 6.00-6.30. This is normal? Forgery doesn't seem to
be, and there's no sense in forging them, these coins, although rare, are
inexpensive.

Is it really such a difficult
question, huh?... And
meanwhile I seem to have
found a partial answer. Full inscription on obverse:
"Zarb Sawai Jaipur
sanah (year) ba-adhi
malikah mu'azzamah
Sultanat Iglistan
Victoria".
Translation:
Struck at
Sawai Jaipur in the year
(for example,1872) by permission of
Her Majesty Victoria,
Queen of England. Hence, the year of the
Christian era is written on the coin! (if only not out of flan). For example, on another coin we can see 190, last cipher out of flan.

In my case, clearly see 1 and half the number 8! Hence, in accordance with
the year of government 37
is 1872 and not 1916

The question of weight
remains actual. C'mon, let's be
brave, maybe at least some
thoughts?
