Perth Mint - As the Hindu deity of intellect, patron of arts and sciences, and remover of obstacles, the elephant-like Ganesha is worshipped with the goddess Lakshmi to welcome wisdom along with wealth. The reverse of the coin features a representation of Ganesha holding a lotus flower and an ornamental axe.

As an animal that can find its way into a small spaces, the mouse complements the strong elephantine god's abilities to overcome obstacles. Meanwhile, as an animal that is constantly nibbling away at anything it can, the rodent serving Ganesha is a metaphor for how a wise person remains in control of their desires. The design includes the inscription '1 GRAM 9999 GOLD' and The Perth Mint's traditional 'P' mintmark.
