Hi Everyone I just got this very nice silver Roman provincial of Alexandria, Egypt from the reign of Emperor Nero. More about him: Perhaps the most infamous of Rome's emperors, Nero Claudius Caesar (37-68 A.D.) ruled Rome from 54 A.D. until his death by suicide 14 years later. He is best known for his debaucheries, political murders, persecution of Christians and a passion for music that led to the probably apocryphal rumor that Nero "fiddled" while Rome burned during the great fire of 64 A.D. Also about the coin: Type: Roman Provincial Region: Egypt City: Alexandria Issuer: Nero Date Ruled: 54-68 AD Metal: Silver Denomination: Tetradrachm Date Struck: 64-65 AD Diameter: 23mm Obverse Legend: NEPΩ KΛAV KAIΣ ΣEB ΓEP AV Obverse Description: radiate head right Reverse Legend: AVTOKPA, L IA Reverse Description: eagle standing left, palm behind.
