Nice coin of the emperor Hadrain 117-138, obverse should read HADRIANS AVG COS III PP, reverse is Fortuna standing left holding rudder and corncopia, inscription FORTUNA AVG.

After collecting for awhile you will be able to ID most of the early period emperors by there images. Hadrain is an easy one.

Watch the spelling, people - it's "Hadrian". For the earlier Empire, when the artistic quality of the coinage was still pretty good, portraiture can be much more helpful in identifying an emperor than for coins from the mid-250's onwards. Trivia time: All emperors from before the time of Hadrian were shown clean-shaven on their coins. Beards hadn't been fashionable in Rome ever since the Romans had conquered Greece and adopted the Greek custom of shaving. Hadrian, however, apparently had some kind of skin condition (acne?) that made shaving uncomfortable for him, so he dispensed with the practise. The emperor himself sporting a beard made them fashionable again, overnight. From Hadrian on, for the next 200 years or so, almost all emperors are shown bearded. Indeed, the beard becomes as much a sign of senior Imperial rank as the presence of "IMP AVG" in the titles. Bearded emperors remained in vogue on the coinage until the period of Constantine the Great.

"The emperor himself sporting a beard made them fashionable again, overnight." I'm imagining the male society of Rome looking rather scruffy en masse until their beards caught up with Hadrian's.
