I just recently heard about ( Cuds) and don't really know exactly what they are. Could someone tell me if this is one or not? Many thanks!

These Die Chips and Die Cracks are very common on the top of the Shields on the reverse. There's no premium over face value for these.

thats not a Cud - a Cud involves the field and the rim.
this is called a die chip
