AU-58 with a weak strike so typical of these first couple years.

, though it wouldn't surprise me to see it in a mid-MS holder. These are tough to grade from pics.

We shall find out soon what holder it ends up in. I think this will be 1 of the 10 I plan to submit this upcoming weekend.

What are the parallel lines running through the top of TATES on the obverse?

I think it is a scuff mark where something apparently rubbed across it. I was waiting to see if anyone would deem it a details coin. I'm contemplating submitting it with a group of other coins. I personally think it will straight grade maybe 55 or 58, but who knows these days.

Those lines are most likely from an album window sliding across it. Those with Dansco albums need to make sure the coin is below the surface when you slide a clear window in. If you feel the leading edge of the window you see how sharp the cut edge is.
