Hey Guys,
I noticed this strange area on the reverse of one of my Walking Liberty half dollars while going through my Alblum. Not Sure if the photo does it justice but when viewed under a 14x Loupe the metal appears to be identical to Gold. Total weight is 12.25 Grams. Any Help would be appreciated.

Plating which has almost completely disappeared. Only a few areas of plating remains.

Was probably gold plated. Plating wore off, but some remnants are visible. Just a normal coin that was plated.

Beats me. Difficult for me to imagine all traces of gold plating now gone except this one obvious area. Nice grade on the holder!

Moxking is right. It's gold plating that's now starting to wear off from circulation.

OR it's a solid Gold coin plated with Silver and the Silver is starting to wear off.
