*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***I am in consideration to buy this uncertified coin but I do have the option to buy the coin or bid at a lower value. After looking at the picture, it looks like the coin grade is VF35, not XF40.

Pictures are pretty bad to try figuring out an exact grade. Bid VF35 and if you win hope it's XF40

I think XF 40 is a fair grade, maybe even a little conservative. It looks like there's strong separation in all the lines on the shield, which you usually dont see in circulated 3CS. It also has a decent amount of relief on the star. If there's a return policy, and you want the coin, I'd buy it and if it looks good in hand, keep it.

These pics are not telling the whole story on this coin . When I buy a coin if I can't see close ups of the whole coin both sides, I would not buy it . VF-35 EF-40 , draw a straw if you really want it .

Absolutely do not see clear evidence of EF from these pics. Can you ask for sharper shots? These really aren't very good.

Based on multiple responses, I agree that there is more wear than what could be considered as XF40 but I will bid as VG. Below are pics that you requested....was copied from the seller's site (Collector's Corner)

3 cent pieces can be notoriously difficult to grade. BStrauss3 is an expert on these.
I'd grade it in the VF range but would like sharper pics.

I'd still bid low without seeing sharper pics.

I see the rim as being non-distinct in some areas and the left side of the shield doesn't have distinct lines. Something happening in states? Low VF bid lower, as you say for a VG.

Thanks everyone for kind response. I agree that a better pic would suffice to determine the grading. Majority of you feel that it is mostly likely a VG than XF which I believe it is, I plan to bid as VG. Once I do get the coin in my hand, this will help me to appraised fairly and if not, at least I can get a refund from Collection Corner.

Kurrency K, you are right, I completely forgot about the VF. The more I think about it, it should be VG rather than VG but not EF.

The type I's usually come weakly struck. Yours has a weak reverse, but you have sharp detail on the shield. The double line is almost complete all the way around. Your photos aren't the best for grading but what I see is an EF coin.

IndianGolfEagle, thanks for your input....the dealer agreed to my lower bid and grading. Once it comes in, I will analyze it to see the details of the coin. I just happened to find the dealer's coin picture online. Just following my instinct... I will let you know.
