This medal commemorated the Centennial of the city of St. Catharines, Ontario in 1976. The reverse, stark as it is, depicts a ship floating on the St. Lawrence Seaway waterway which connects the Atlantic Ocean with all the major ports as far west as Chicago and Duluth.
The Welland Canal passes through St. Catharines, connecting Lake Ontario to Lake Erie which is a distance of approximately 27 miles and a height differential of 325 feet.
Great lakes ships up to 740 feet long travel this canal and climb or descend the escarpment using a series of `locks', which are actually concrete rectangular boxes with watertight metal gates on both ends. There are eight of these locks between both lakes and they actually lift the ships up or down, ( depending on direction ) using water within the lock itself.

The 1925 Lexington-Concord half dollar was struck "in commemoration of the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord." (Public Resolution 68-43).

The coin's obverse depicts the "Minute Man" statue sculpted by Daniel Chester French and erected in Concord in time for the 1875 centennial commemoration of the Battle. It stands near the end of the reconstructed Old North Bridge that crosses the Concord River; the statue stands on the side of the river occupied by the American minute men during the battle. Side Note: Near the opposite end of the bridge is the Battle of Concord obelisk, a monument dedicated in 1836 to the memory of the Battle; it stands on the side of the river where the British stood.

The reverse of the coin depicts the Belfry Tower in Lexington in which hung the bell that sounded the alarm on April 19, 1775 and alerted the local militia (aka Minute Men) of the advancing British troops and the need to assemble. At the time, the Belfry was located on the Lexington Common/Battle Green, having been moved there in 1768 from it original location on nearby Belfry Hill. The Belfry was first constructed in 1762; the original was destroyed by a storm in 1909.

Today, an exact replica of the Belfry stands on the spot of the original on Belfry Hill at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Clarke Street in Lexington, MA.

Here's the 2002 US silver dollar struck to commemorate the bicentennial of the US Military Academy at West Point, NY.

The coin's obverse presents a cadet color guard in parade with the Military Academy's Washington Hall and Cadet Chapel in the background. The design is the work of US Mint Sculptor-Engraver James Ferrell; US Mint Sculptor-Engraver John Mercanti was responsible for the reverse (a depiction of the Academy's bicentennial logo). (Note: Mercanti worked on the coin before becoming the Mint's 12th Chief Sculptor-Engraver on May 19, 2006.)

Here's one from my collection of commemorative silver dollars of Canada - the 1984 Toronto Sesquicentennial coin. The dollar was designed by D.J. Craig and engraved/modeled by Walter Ott.

In 2018, the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association ( RCNA) held its annual Convention in Toronto and had 50 of the Toronto dollars slabbed with a special label. I purchased one to support the organization. (I'm a Life Member!)

Here's a terrific view of the city at sunset. Somewhat similar to the scene depicted on the coin - though with additions to the skyline since 1984! I've enjoyed my visits to the city!

In 1997, the US Mint struck a commemorative coin for the US Botanic Garden and its 175th anniversary. The coin was available in proof and uncirculated versions, and also as part of a limited edition "Coinage and Currency Set."
