Any ideas from the experts here on the history of this coin? I checked a list of Archdices coins and found similar designs but not the exact one.

Thank you for your time...

Look for Albert and Elizabeth, Archduke and Dutchess plus the date for better search results. The design is a smaller denomination than the "Cross Thaler."

This is a coin of Albert and Isabella, probably Netherlands or Brabant.

Is it silver? ANd what is the size?

Amazing level of knowledge here--thank you very much. The coin looks like copper and weighs 3.8 grams--size is 25 mm--so I think Pistareen and tdziemia are right and it's likely this type: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces9075.html

1606-1615 - Spanish Netherlands (Brabant) "Albertus and Elisabet Dei Gratia"

Now to find the value (researching this for an elderly friend).

Thank you again--and thanks, Dorado, for the welcome.

Here is one that has sold recently: https://www.ebay.com/itm/492746-Coi...047675.l2557

Your friend's coin has a more appealing shape, but as the legends are more worn, and the date is incomplete (maybe it's more readable when you have it in hand), that usually detracts from the value.

Still, this gives some guidance on the value.
