I have a few ceramic pot jars with a hinged lid that seals shut. Would this be safe for storing unsorted pennies temporarily.
Rest in Peace

How temporary, years? As long as the container is clean and coins are free from verdigris and bronze disease, placing in a sealed container in a climate controlled room would be fine. A dessicant pack may be helpful if you live in a humid climate. If these coins are wrapped or in another form of storage that may also be fine, even the way they are. Copper is an easy metal to protect as long as humidity and poor air is controlled.

Using a dessicant pack in any climate is good advice. These need to be replaced periodically.

But just remember if you get hungry while looking through your coins!

Storing any coins depends a lot of just how long. If for several hundred years, you may need a better storing system.
