I wonder if this coin will turn out like the 2017 Silver Swan from Australia too. I picked up a few just in case.. also my wife loves ocean life.

Mister Kairu...I am right there with you. I picked up five and will probably sell 3. I noticed APMEX just added 2,000 more to their inventory without raising the price. Usually they start low and raise the price throughout the day.

I like it, will pick the silver one up, wanted the gold but dont care for the 250 limited mintage at 1750. To me this series is like the swan or emu.

Well I dont remember exactly how fast the swans went, but seems like these arent super popular, even at the 25k mintage.

I think collectors arent snapping this up because,, well, everyone is fatigued from these special dealer exclusive bullion coins,,,, APMEX, knock off the gimmicks and slow down with the coins.

If the gold Dolphin coin was priced similar to the Australian paradise gold coin, I would have been a buyer. But nope, APMEX decided to get slick and jack up the premium. If a coin is going to be SPECIAL, it should be released by the issuing mint, NOT a 3rd party dealer that adds a massive premium.

The (2017) Swan blew up in value because it was low mintage in part, but also largely because it was a very pretty design. I liked it so much I bought the gold coin too. The 2018 Swan, the Emu, the Bird of Paradise, and the Dolphin are all nice, but to me they are just trying to recreate the demand that the 2017 Swan did - and have largely failed to do so.

IT seems like the 2017 gold swan was a bust as well. I bought it because I loved the design but I was surprised when I found it on ebay, from APMEX for several days, I think they had it for 1295 in the 3rd week of December of last year, which I jumped on since I liked the design. I wish I Could have gotten the silver but I lost interest in paying up lol

I was also surprised how long it was available for (gold Swan). With a mintage of only 1/5 of the silver Swan, I thought they would get snapped up quick. The more I thought about it though, the more I concluded that it was simply too expensive for an "impulse" type purchase for a lot of people. Just about anyone can grab an ounce of silver on a whim, but plenty of people just don't have an extra $1300 to burn on a shiny coin these days...or so my theory goes.
I don't really care if it was a bust, I also bought it because I just loved the design, and have no intention of selling it.
