I have a 1987 Lincoln Cent that is a double strike. The second strike is rotated about10-15 degrees counter clockwise. The second strike includes Lincoln's bust, Liberty, and 1987. The motto is partially visible on the rim. Does anybody have information on this kind of double, or what reference source I can go to.

Pictures would help. Sounds like a cool coin but hard to say if it is an error or post mint damage without any pictures.

If you can't add pictures can you at least tell us if the so called second strike is normal or do the letters read backwards and are below the surface of the coin? If so then that would be what is called a "vise job" - 2 cents laid on top of each other and either squeezed in a vice or whacked with a hammer transferring the image of one coin onto the other but as a mirror image.

Ref: 1987 Lincoln Cent double strike. Until I figure out how to take a picture, I will answer Mark's question on the image direction. The bust, Liberty and date are not backwards. The images are faint and rotated 10-15 degrees counter clockwise. The motto is only partially visible on the rim.

Have you read the tutorial on uploading pics, and if so, what message are you getting when tying to do so?

I have tried several times to post the image of the 1987 cent for all to see, but I can't get it here. I've optimized, cropped, copied/pated, exported and dragged the image to no avail.
