Is there a way to open those standard "air-tight", half dollar plastic holders without getting a hacksaw to cut through it? I picked some up recently and mistakenly closed the lid tight not knowing it would be nigh impossible to open back up. Is there some sort of trick to it?
Rest in Peace

IIRC, you can get a knife blade under one rim and pry them open easily.

And if you miss you'll end up with a nice sratch on the coin. I know. I did just that and missed. Then I also cut my finger.
Just keep prying with your finger nail. If no finger nail, find a lady with them and ask her to do it. If she breaks a nail trying, be prepared to run.

Carls advice is sound, as per usual, ......but just be sure that the "nails" on the lady aren't "press on nails", because the glue holding these on will NOT hold up under the exertion needed here. They need to be natural nails....so observe this BEFORE asking "the lady."........
